A Reddit video that plays silently after downloading does not always have a broken audio track. The original clip may be silent, the player may be muted, or the download may contain video without a usable audio track. Check those possibilities in that order before downloading it repeatedly.
Listen to the original post first
Open the Reddit post itself, start playback, and check its mute control and your device’s output volume. If headphones or another audio device are connected, confirm where the sound is going. Compare another known working clip in the same player when possible.
If the original remains silent, the downloaded file may be accurate. A moving image or GIF-style animation is not proof that a soundtrack exists. You need an audible source before you can meaningfully test whether the download lost sound.

Use the post URL, then inspect the result
Paste the public post link into the Reddit downloader. A URL copied directly from a media player can identify just one media resource and may omit the surrounding post context. If you began with a short share link, open it and confirm which post it reaches.
After the result appears, inspect the available video option. DLPanda can only offer media returned by the source service. The presence of a Download button does not by itself guarantee that the selected file contains sound.
Compare three playback points
- The Reddit post: does it play audibly after you unmute it?
- The returned preview, if available: can you hear the same part of the clip?
- The saved local file: does it play with sound in your device’s video player?
If the post and preview both have sound but the local file does not, check the local player’s mute and audio-track controls. Try another player already on your device if available. If one player has sound and another does not, you have narrowed the issue to playback compatibility or settings rather than the post link.
If the post has sound but the returned media is silent too, retry with a fresh post URL. The current result may not include an audio-bearing version. DLPanda does not promise to repair, synthesize, or recover an unavailable soundtrack.
Check that you saved the intended file
A video preview, a thumbnail, and the downloadable video are separate things. Open the file and look for a duration. Also compare its length with the source: an interrupted transfer or the wrong clip needs a new download, not a volume adjustment.
An .mp4 extension describes a container, not a promise of sound. An MP4 can contain video without audio. Changing the extension to .mp3 does not extract music or create an audio track; keep the original file intact while you diagnose it.
Know when to stop retrying
After one fresh attempt with the confirmed post URL, record what you observed. “Sound on the Reddit post, silence in the returned preview and saved file” is a useful report. So is “sound works in one local player but not another.” Include your browser and device type when sending feedback.
If the source post is unavailable or its soundtrack no longer plays, ask the poster for the original file when appropriate. A downloader cannot reconstruct audio that it cannot retrieve, and repeated requests to the same expired media address do not restore it.
